Take My Life and Let It Be: A Deep Meditation on Total Surrender (Romans 12:1) | Instrumental
Find your center and rededicate your path with this soul-stirring instrumental of “Take My Life and Let It Be Consecrated.” This arrangement is designed to help you offer every part of your beingāyour time, your talents, and your heartāto the Lord.
The Scriptural Foundation
This timeless hymn is a melodic expression of the call found in Romans 12:1:
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.”
As the music plays, let it be a backdrop for your own “reasonable service,” as you surrender your will and your days to His “royal throne.”
The Story Behind the Hymn
Written in 1874 by Frances Ridley Havergal, this hymn was born out of a night of intense prayer and intercession. While visiting a house where ten people were stayingāsome believers, some notāFrances prayed, “Lord, give me all in this house!” By the end of her visit, every person had been touched by Godās grace.
Overwhelmed with joy, she sat up that night and penned these verses. For Frances, this wasn’t just a poem; it was a lifestyle. She even sent her jewelry to the Church Missionary Society, saying, “Take my silver and my gold, not a mite would I withhold.”
Hymn Lyrics (Part I)
1
Take my life and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love.
2
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee;
Take my voice and let me sing,
Always, only for my King.
Hymn Lyrics (Part II)
3
Take my silver and my gold,
Not a mite would I withhold;
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.
4
Take my will and make it Thine,
It shall be no longer mine;
Take my heart, it is Thine own,
It shall be Thy royal throne.
