Find rest for your soul and strength for your journey with this gentle instrumental of “God Will Take Care of You.” This arrangement is designed to be a soft reminder that you are never alone—no matter what dangers assail or tests you face, you are held in the Father’s care.
The Scriptural Foundation
This hymn is a beautiful reflection of the promise found in 1 Peter 5:7: “Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” It invites us to abide beneath His wings of love, trusting that through every day and o’er all the way, His provision is sure.
The Story Behind the Hymn
Written in 1904 by Civilla D. Martin, this hymn was born out of a simple but profound moment of faith. Civilla’s husband, an evangelist, was scheduled to preach but was worried about leaving Civilla at home while she was ill. Their young son looked at his father and said, “Father, don’t you think that if God wants you to preach today, He will take care of Mother while you are away?”
Struck by the child’s simple trust, Civilla wrote the lyrics that very afternoon. When her husband returned, he composed the melody, and a hymn of worldwide comfort was born. It remains a testament to the fact that God honors the simple faith of His children.
Hymn Lyrics (Part I)
1
Be not dismayed whate’er betide,
God will take care of you;
Beneath His wings of love abide,
God will take care of you.
Chorus
God will take care of you,
Through every day, o’er all the way;
He will take care of you,
God will take care of you.
2
Through days of toil when heart doth fail,
God will take care of you;
When dangers fierce your path assail,
God will take care of you.
Hymn Lyrics (Part II)
3
No matter what may be the test,
God will take care of you;
Lean, weary one, upon His breast,
God will take care of you.
Chorus
God will take care of you,
Through every day, o’er all the way;
He will take care of you,
God will take care of you.
Lyrics: Civilla D. Martin (1904)
